Underware
Bas Jacobs and Akiem Helmling are members of the Dutch type collective Underware. They not only design typefaces, they live type—they educate about type, they publish about type, they talk about type, and they provoke others to talk about type. Underware has designed typefaces from A to Z, from Auto, Bello, and Dolly to Zeitung.
Hilary Greenbaum
As design director for the Whitney Museum of American Art, Hilary Greenbaum leads a team of in-house designers, who have used a modest kit of parts to create a robust brand. Through a variety of platforms, the Whitney's identity system is constantly meeting new challenges while maintaining its overall coherence.
Paul Sahre
This designer, writer, and art director is known for his book covers and editorial illustrations. He has created covers for authors including Rick Moody, Earnest Hemingway, and Chuck Klosterman. His new book, Two-Dimensional Man, is a witty memoir about life as a graphic designer, who has faced personal tragedy as well as typos, faulty scanners, and failed client meetings.
Abe Burickson
Abe Burickson is the co-founder of Odyssey Works, an artists' collaborative exploring experience design, performance, and the artist-audience relationship. His work has been profiled on NPR’s Studio 360 and in the New York Times, Fast Company, the Stanford Storytelling Project, and elsewhere. His book, co-written with Ayden LeRoux, Odyssey Works, Transformative Experiences for an Audience of One, was published by Princeton Architectural Press in 2017.
