GD MFA Projects
In our core GD MFA Studio course, taught by program directors Ellen Lupton and Jennifer Cole Phillips, first- and second-year students work on individual projects as collaborative enterprises with a public impact. The studio has produced a series of globally distributed books, including D.I.Y.: Design It Yourself, Graphic Design: The New Basics, and Indie Publishing: How to Design and Produce Your Own Book, as well as zines, exhibitions, conferences, and other endeavors. Students also create individual projects in response to topics and problems related to the visual language and cultural impact of design. The GD MFA program encourages our students to present papers and workshops at national design conferences by providing modest travel grants.
