Octopus is a napping pillow designed for use by a group of people in a social setting, such as an office, dormitory, school, or health center. Octopus initiates social hibernation—an activity practiced by many creatures—and it raises awareness of sleep as an essential aspect of human health and well being. Octopus offers users a multisensory experience that includes softness, texture, scent, ocean sounds, light, and bedtime games for enhanced napping.
In the video, we introduce the octopus’ four functions in a linear storytelling way. We display the design of the interface by showing the process that people control the App to customize the octopus’ features. We also included the scenarios that people were interacting with the octopus pillow to show the product could promote the emotional communication among users and improve nap quality.
In the homepage, the octopus is the matrix associated all the functions. The creatures around the octopus, such as whales and dolphins, show the ocean sounds the user has selected. The color of the octopus in the homepage indicates the color of light strip. The circular mist above the octopus shows the current aroma. The user can costhe function by touching the octopus.
Users can compose the unique light color to their liking through the App
Ocean sound elements included the sound of whale, dolphin, ray, sea lion, catfish, sea wave, bubble, etc. Users can add or remove the sound elements to their liking.
In the aroma page, users create their favorite aroma by connecting or separating different moving aroma elements on the screen.
Users were excited to try our pillow and really had some rest. Children especially love our work. Many families with children came back to sleep on our octopus over and over again. Some of them even spent almost two hours on experiencing.
