Laurie Rosenwald is an illustrator, designer, author, and educator. She paints, draws, cuts, pastes, writes, and talks. Describing her experience as a student at RISD, before transferring from the design department to illustration, Laurie writes, “Here’s a word I’ll hate forever: ‘conceptual.’ I think it means ‘un-stupid.’ Design turned out to be even more snobbish and existential than painting. I longed for a down-to-earth project, like a new candy bar or something. Besides, I missed drawing.”
Laurie runs a legendary workshop that explodes everyone’s brain who participates. This year, she’s doing it at MICA, exclusively for the graphic design MFA program.
