Finding Harry: A True Story

I wanted to tell a story. The story of S/Sgt Harry Clawson, an American Paratrooper in World War II. And I wanted to do it with graphic design. I had no idea if I could do it, or what it would look like. I didn’t know how I was going to tell the story of someone I had never met, and whose life experiences had been so different from my own. So I designed my own research methodology based on the ways I learn best. I would try and attach my senses to as much of Harry’s story as possible. I would experience as much as I could. I would read, see, do, document, and make. As a result I had an incredible journey, I tried new things, I went to new places, I made new friends, and in a small way I found Harry for myself.
